Despite a lackluster performance in theaters, Sarfira OTT release has been officially announced by Akshay Kumar. The movie, which hit theaters on July 12, 2024, is now slated to stream on Disney+Hotstar on October 11, 2024. Akshay Kumar shared this exciting update via his Instagram, accompanied by a video teaser.
In his post, Akshay explained that Sarfira tells the story of a man with a bold dream — to make air travel accessible to every common citizen through affordable airlines. The film, a Hindi remake of the Tamil blockbuster Soorarai Pottru, is set to make its OTT debut soon. So, if you missed it in theaters, you’ll soon be able to watch it from the comfort of your home.
Sarfira‘s Struggles at the Box Office
Although Sarfira is based on Suriya’s National Award-winning film Soorarai Pottru, it didn’t quite manage to capture the same magic at the box office. Despite high expectations, the film performed poorly, with net earnings amounting to just ₹22.13 crores. This lackluster performance surprised many, given the success of the original Tamil film, which earned Suriya a National Award for Best Actor.
Now, with its OTT release approaching, Akshay Kumar’s fans who didn’t make it to theaters will get a second chance to experience the movie.
