Prabhas’s film Kalki 2898 AD is approaching the end of its theatrical run and is gearing up for an OTT release. According to various media reports, the Nag Ashwin-directed film will be available on Prime Video starting August 23.
Kalki 2898 AD OTT Release Date
While there hasn’t been an official confirmation from the filmmakers, it appears they have opted for an OTT release after the movie’s eight-week stint in theaters. Kalki 2898 AD was released on June 27 and is produced by C Ashwani Dutt, Swapna Dutt, and Priyanka Dutt under the Vyjayanthi Movies banner.
The film continues to draw audiences, with three more weeks left to enjoy its box office journey before transitioning online. Kalki 2898 AD still has several records in its sights and may achieve more milestones in the remaining 20 days of its theatrical run.
Currently, the science-fiction drama is the fifth highest-grossing Indian film of all time at the domestic box office, and it’s poised to climb to the fourth position. The film is nearing the lifetime collection of Jawan, which earned ₹640.25 crore net at the Indian box office. Kalki 2898 AD is just behind, with ₹635.95 crore net, according to trade website Sacnilk. Covering this gap of ₹5 crore could secure Kalki 2898 AD a new box office record.
Despite competition from new releases like Deadpool and Wolverine, Stree 2, Khel Khel Mein, and Vedaa, Kalki 2898 AD has already emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film of the year, both domestically and worldwide. As the film edges closer to its final box office tally, all eyes are on its potential to break more records before its OTT debut.
