7th Pay Commission: Tamil Nadu Govt Announces Diwali Bonus for 2 Lakh Employees

In a festive boost for thousands of state employees, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced a Diwali bonus for Grade C and D employees across all public sector organizations. The Tamil Nadu government highlighted that the state is leading in factory establishments and workforce strength across several key sectors such as manufacturing, vehicle production, engineering, pharmaceuticals, garments, leather goods, technology, and other services.

According to the government, Tamil Nadu’s emergence as India’s top manufacturing hub and its trajectory toward becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2030 is due to the relentless efforts of its skilled workers, who produce world-class products while supporting the government’s visionary schemes.

Recognizing the pivotal role these workers play in driving national progress and boosting productivity, the state government announced the Diwali bonus to encourage and reward employees of public sector enterprises (PSUs).

Employees of profit-making PSUs will receive a 20% bonus, while those in loss-making PSUs will get a 10% bonus. Grade C and D employees of the Tamil Nadu Housing Board and Chennai Water Supply and Sewerage Board will receive a 10% bonus, and workers in the Tamil Nadu Drinking Water Supply Board will be given an 8.3% bonus.

In addition, temporary workers of the Tamil Nadu Consumer Goods Trading Corporation will be granted a Rs 3,000 gratuity.

Government employees in Tamil Nadu will receive a minimum Diwali bonus of Rs 8,400 and a maximum of Rs 16,800. The total estimated bonus amount is Rs 369.65 crore, benefiting 2,75,670 workers across the state. Bonus announcements for employees in cooperatives will be made separately.
