Shares of Trent Ltd surged nearly 13%, reaching a fresh 52-week high of ₹6,373.85 apiece on the NSE on Friday, August 9, following the company’s impressive Q1FY25 financial performance. The Trent share price soared as the company’s consolidated net profit more than doubled compared to the same period last year.
Trent Results Q1FY25 Highlights
- Net Profit Growth: Trent reported a significant increase in net profit for Q1FY25, which surged by over 135% year-on-year to ₹391.21 crore, compared to ₹166.67 crore in Q1FY24.
- Revenue Surge: The retail arm of Tata Group saw a more than 56% rise in consolidated revenue from operations, reaching ₹4,104.44 crore in the June quarter, compared to ₹2,628.37 crore in the year-ago period. This impressive growth in Trent results reflects the company’s robust performance in the retail sector.
- Quarter-on-Quarter Comparison: On a sequential basis, Trent’s revenue from operations increased by over 24% from ₹3,297.7 crore in the March quarter of FY24. However, net profit decreased by over 45% from ₹712.09 crore in Q4FY24.
- Operating Earnings: The company’s Operating Earnings Before Interest and Taxes (EBIT) grew nearly 113% to ₹417 crore in Q1FY25, up from ₹196 crore in the June quarter of FY24. Additionally, Trent’s Operating EBIT margin improved by 300 basis points to 11% in Q1FY25, compared to 8% in Q1FY24.
Store Expansion and Portfolio
The operator of popular retail chains like Westside and Zudio expanded its portfolio to 823 stores in Q1FY25, adding 25 new outlets during the quarter. As of June 30, 2024, Trent’s store portfolio included 228 Westside stores, 559 Zudio outlets, and 36 Utsa stores.
