BYD India Launches the BYD eMax 7: A New Electric MPV

On October 8, BYD India introduced the BYD eMax 7, a facelifted version of its all-electric MPV, the e6. This new model is available in two variants – Premium and Superior – with prices starting at Rs 26.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The launch of the BYD new car signals the brand’s continued commitment to sustainability and innovation. Bookings for the eMax 7 are already underway, with a token amount of Rs 51,000.

BYD eMax 7 Variants and Pricing

The BYD eMax 7 price in India starts at Rs 26.90 lakh, positioning it as a competitive option in the growing electric vehicle (EV) market. The two available variants, Premium and Superior, come with 6- and 7-seater options to cater to both commercial and passenger markets.

Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles (EPV) at BYD India, emphasized the brand’s focus on innovation, saying, “We will always be committed to bringing the latest global innovation to our discerning Indian consumers.” According to Chauhan, the BYD new car is designed to create its own niche, as there are no other electric MPVs in the market that offer both six-seater and seven-seater configurations.

BYD eMax 7 Features

The BYD eMax 7 features are packed with advanced technology and comfort options, making it a standout in the electric MPV segment. Some key highlights include:

  • A large 12.8-inch central touchscreen for easy navigation and infotainment.
  • Two wireless charging pads, allowing passengers to charge their devices on the go.
  • A 3-spoke steering wheel with easy-to-reach controls.
  • Six airbags and a 360-degree camera for enhanced safety.

In the Superior variant, additional BYD eMax 7 features include Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a fixed panoramic glass roof, powered and ventilated front seats, frameless wipers, and roof rails.

Performance and Battery Options

The BYD eMax 7 car is offered with two battery options. The Premium variant comes with a 55.4 kWh battery pack, providing a range of 420 km per charge, while the Superior variant is equipped with a larger 71.8 kWh battery, offering a range of 530 km as per New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) tests. Both models support fast charging, with the Premium variant capable of charging at up to 89 kW and the Superior variant supporting up to 115 kW.

Performance-wise, the Superior variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.6 seconds, while the Premium variant achieves the same in 10.1 seconds. Both variants come with a 7 kW AC charger and vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging capability.

BYD eMax 7 Colours and Warranty

The BYD eMax 7 base model and the Superior variant are available in four color options: Quartz Blue, Harbour Grey, Crystal White, and Cosmos Black. The BYD new car also comes with an extensive warranty package. The battery is covered by an eight-year or 1.6 lakh km warranty, while the motor has an eight-year or 1.5 lakh km warranty.
