Cricketer Mohammed Siraj Officially Becomes DSP in Telangana

Hyderabad: Cricketer Mohammed Siraj officially took on the role of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) after reporting to the Director General of Police (DGP) in Telangana on Friday, October 11. This significant appointment follows Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s announcement that Siraj would be granted a prestigious Group-I government position, which has now been fulfilled.

In his announcement, Revanth Reddy emphasized the state government’s commitment to supporting sports and nurturing future talent among athletes. Alongside this appointment, the Telangana government has also allocated 600 square yards of land at Road No. 78, Jubilee Hills, to the international cricketer in recognition of his remarkable performance in the ICC T20 World Cup.

Who is Mohammed Siraj?

Born on March 13, 1994, in Hyderabad, Telangana, Mohammed Siraj is an Indian international cricketer renowned for his right-arm fast bowling. Growing up in a humble background, with his father working as an auto-rickshaw driver, Siraj began playing club cricket at the age of 19 after starting to bowl with a tennis ball at 16. He made a remarkable debut in his first match, taking 9 wickets for his uncle’s team in the Hyderabad Cricket Association.

Siraj represents India in international cricket and plays for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Hyderabad in domestic cricket. He played a crucial role in India’s 2023 Asia Cup victory, claiming figures of 6/21 in the final and earning the Player of the Match award. Additionally, he was part of the Indian team that triumphed in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Siraj has also made headlines in the IPL, notably for bowling two consecutive maiden overs in 2020.

With this new role as DSP, Mohammed Siraj is set to make an impact beyond the cricket field.
