The darker styling gives the compact SUV a more aggressive appearance compared with the regular variants.

Skoda Kylaq Engine and Gearbox

The Skoda Kylaq Sportline continues with the same 1.0-litre TSI three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine used across the range.

Transmission options include:

  • 6-speed manual
  • 6-speed torque-converter automatic

There is no mechanical upgrade with the Sportline variant. Instead, Skoda has focused on styling, equipment and positioning.

Skoda Kylaq Safety Features

Safety equipment remains a strong point of the Kylaq lineup.

All variants continue to get six airbags as standard, while the Kylaq has also secured a five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating.

Lower Skoda Kylaq Variants Also Get New Features

The Sportline launch isn't the only update to the Kylaq range.

Skoda has also added features to the more affordable Classic and Classic+ variants.

  1. Classic
  2. Classic+
  3. Signature

Skoda Kylaq Sales in India

The new Sportline variant comes at an important time for Skoda because the Kylaq has become the company's main volume driver in India.

In July 2026, Skoda sold 5,709 cars in India, with the Kylaq accounting for 3,727 units, or roughly 65% of the company's domestic sales.

Kylaq sales increased 10.36% year-on-year from 3,377 units in July 2025. However, sales were down 7.72% compared with June 2026, when the SUV recorded 4,039 units.

Why the Kylaq Sportline Matters for Skoda

The Sportline arrives ahead of the festive season, when carmakers typically look to attract additional buyers.

Rather than changing the engine or mechanical package, Skoda has used sportier styling, extra equipment and a strategically positioned price to broaden the Kylaq's appeal.

The new variant also gives buyers another option between the Signature+ and Prestige trims.
