Tata Motors has officially revealed the production version of its much-anticipated Curvv coupe-SUV in India. The vehicle will come with three engine options, each available with both manual and automatic gearbox choices. Tata plans to announce the pricing for the Curvv on September 2.
Key Features of Tata Curvv
- Top-Spec Features: The Curvv’s top variant offers Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and a segment-first powered tailgate.
- Variants: The Curvv will be available in six variants: Smart, Pure+, Creative, Creative+ S, Accomplished S, and Accomplished+ A.
- Platform: The Curvv is built on Tata’s new ATLAS platform.
Exterior and Interior Design
The Curvv, which shares its platform with the Nexon, has a distinctive appearance with a sharply sloping coupe roofline, squircle wheel arches, and a unique rear design featuring a single-piece rooftop spoiler and a full-width tail-light. The vehicle’s dual-tone bumper and stylish profile set it apart from the standard SUV design.
Inside, the Curvv’s cabin borrows heavily from the Nexon and Nexon EV, featuring a dual-tone burgundy and black theme. The dashboard and center console are identical to those found in the Nexon, while the steering wheel is borrowed from the Harrier and Safari models.
Notable Features
The Curvv is equipped with several premium features, including:
- Segment-first powered tailgate with gesture control
- 18-inch alloy wheels and flush door handles
- 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- Fully digital driver’s display
- Panoramic sunroof and reclining rear seat
- Ventilated front seats
- Safety features such as six airbags, ESC, disc brakes on all four wheels, TPMS, a 360-degree camera, and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold
Powertrain Options
The Tata Curvv offers three engine choices:
- 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol: Producing 120hp and 170Nm.
- 1.5-litre diesel engine: Offering 118hp.
- 1.2-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol: Producing 125hp and 225Nm.
All engines are paired with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic option available. Notably, the Curvv is the only mass-market diesel car in India to offer a dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Expected Pricing and Competition
Tata will announce the pricing for the Curvv on September 2. Despite its unique coupe-SUV body style, Tata aims to position the Curvv competitively within the midsize SUV segment. The Curvv will compete with models like the Citroen Basalt coupe-SUV, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, and other similarly priced SUVs. Tata aims to replicate the success of its Punch and Nexon models with the Curvv, establishing a strong presence in the segment.
