Xiaomi 15 Ultra To Come With 200MP Telephoto Camera Lens

Following the launch of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, anticipation is building for its successor, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, expected to debut around the same time next year. While Xiaomi has yet to officially confirm details, leaks and rumors about the upcoming flagship phone are already circulating online. Like its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is rumored to feature a quad-camera setup on the rear and could be powered by the yet-to-be-announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset.

Xiaomi 15 Ultra Camera Specifications Rumored

According to a Weibo post by the well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is likely to sport a quad rear camera setup, including a significant upgrade with a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera featuring 4.x zoom. This information was also echoed by tipster Ice Universe on X (formerly Twitter).

If true, the 200-megapixel zoom lens would be a substantial enhancement over the Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s camera setup, which consists of four 50-megapixel sensors. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra includes a primary 50-megapixel Sony LYT900 camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), two 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 sensors offering 3.2x and 5x optical zoom, and a fourth ultra-wide camera. On the front, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra features a 32-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, an upgrade from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC used in the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. This new chipset will likely offer improved performance and efficiency, positioning the Xiaomi 15 Ultra as one of the leading flagship smartphones in 2025.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra, launched in India in March 2024, was priced at Rs. 99,999 for the single variant with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. It comes with Android 14-based HyperOS and features a 6.73-inch WQHD+ LTPO AMOLED micro-curved display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and 3,000 nits peak brightness. The device is powered by a 5,000mAh battery, supporting 90W wired, 80W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless charging. Additionally, it has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
