Tata Punch Reaches Four Lakh Sales Milestone

The Tata Punch sub-compact SUV has achieved a significant milestone by crossing four lakh unit sales since its launch in October 2021. Averaging monthly sales of around 16,000 units, the Punch has become a popular choice among buyers looking for a compact and high-riding vehicle.

Tata Punch Key Details and Rivals

  • Engine Options: The Punch is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine, available with a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The CNG variant comes with a manual gearbox and features a twin-cylinder setup that increases cargo space.
  • Variants and Popularity: The Punch Adventure variant with a petrol engine is reportedly the most popular among buyers. The Punch EV variant offers either an 82hp or a 114hp motor, with two battery options and five variants. The long-range Punch EV Empowered+ LR has generated the highest customer interest.
  • Sales Milestones: The Punch reached one lakh sales in just ten months, followed by two lakh in May 2023 and three lakh in December 2023. It crossed the four lakh sales mark in July 2024.
  • Sales Breakdown for FY2024: According to Tata Motors, 53% of the Punch’s sales were from the petrol variant, while the EV and CNG models accounted for 14% and 33% of the sales, respectively.
  • Competition: The Punch competes with the Hyundai Exter and Citroen C3 in India. It will also face competition from the upcoming Kia Syros, which is expected to be positioned below the Sonet.

The Punch’s strong sales performance reflects its appeal in the competitive sub-compact SUV segment, offering a variety of powertrain options and features that cater to a broad range of customers.
