Pakistani TikTok Star Sana Yousaf Shot Dead in Suspected Honour Killing

A 17-year-old social media influencer, Sana Yousaf, was shot dead in her home in Islamabad on Monday. Police are investigating the case as a possible honour killing.
Incident Details
Sana Yousaf, who hailed from Upper Chitral, had nearly 5 lakh followers on Instagram and was known for her TikTok content. According to police, she was shot twice at close range by a relative inside her house in Sector G-13, Islamabad.
The attacker reportedly spoke to Sana outside the home before entering and opening fire. He then fled the scene. Sana died on the spot, and her body was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for a post-mortem.
Suspect and Investigation
While no arrests have been made yet, police are exploring multiple angles, including honour killing. SAMAA TV reported the suspect may have been a guest at her residence.
Honour killing refers to the murder of someone by relatives who believe the victim has brought shame to the family. This case follows a pattern of violence against young female influencers in Pakistan.
A Voice for Culture and Women’s Rights
Sana was the daughter of a social activist and used her platform to promote Chitrali culture, women’s rights, and education. Her content gained widespread recognition on TikTok and Instagram.
Earlier this year, a similar incident occurred when a 15-year-old girl named Hira was killed in Quetta by her father and uncle for posting on TikTok. Both were later arrested and confessed to the crime.
